Build your own potting soil grow bag using bag colors and soil mixes.
Colors of potting soil grow bags to suit different types of vegetables. This is not an exact science:

Soil types that you can experiment with:
Perlite – good aeration and moisture retention
Vermiculite – good aeration, excellent moisture control and drainage
Peat moss
Sand
Top soil
Soil mix A – 1:1 perlite/peat moss plus 10:10:10 fertilizer
Soil mix B – 1:1:1 perlite/vermiculite/peat moss plus 10:10:10 fertilizer
Soil mix C – 1:1:1 top soil/sand/compost
Suggested fertilizers (organic):
• Green sand – potassium
• Rock Phosphate – potassium
• Blood meal – nitrogen
• Bone meal – potassium & nitrogen
• Dehydrated manure – nitrogen
