Tip Of the week #1: How to delete your facebook account
Looks like lots of people are concerned with their personal information in facebook and are contemplating deleting their account. Not so obvious but follow this link and you will see how to do this.
But before you do this there is a moral to the story….. don’t put personal information on any site that will put you at risk, assume all social sites as an information sieves, everything leaks out. Here are four useful nonos;
1. Don’t share personal/private moments including pics, audio or videos
2. Don’t enter your exact birth date, address, telephone number or zip code – banks use this to validate who you are, so don’t give identity theives any easy time at your expense. Also don’t ever share your social security number with anyone or any site period
3. Use a trash email address until you validate if they are selling your email address. I have a trash yahoo account that I use initially when entering email address. I want to make sure if I start getting spammed that I can delete the account and not worry about losing my contacts list.
4. Even deleting your account most social sites keep your i nformation in a backup database which takes about 30-90 days before your data is removed. This is to help stop fraud!
Remember social sites are information sieves and don’t believe a word of what they tell you about how important your privacy is to them, because they don’t care or worse still they are liars!
